Ross Ohlendorf Gets SI Spotlight

Pittsburgh got yet another national spotlight. In this week's edition of Sports Illustrated, Pirates RHP Ross Ohlendorf was the topic for a feature article written by Mark Bechtel. The article highlights some of the stories that have already been brought up on "Ohly," including his rancher background, his princeton education, and his government work over the summer at the Dept. of Agriculture.

Ohlendorf is definitely one of the most promising Pirates on the current roster, and his late season push enabled him to earn 10 wins before any other Pirate pitcher (most were thinking Duke would get there first..). The Princeton grad noted his late improvement on pitching coach Joe Kerrigan, who changed his pitch from a slight sidearm to an overhead pitch. Ohlendorf is young and improving, and could prove to be one of the more dependable guys on the Pirates' pitching roster.

The article is very well written, and combines all of the things that make Ohlendorf such an intriguing baseball player. Definitely something to get Pirate fans excited for next season.
